BUY A SHIRT!

now you're in my world, did you dream it'd be so small?

Riverbend once again makes me ashamed to be American. Not because I believe Iraq had anything to do with the attack on 9/11 (I don't), not because I believe the war with iraq is justified (I don't), and not because I support Dubya, despite all indications that not only is he not fit to be president, but hes barely fit to graduate 9th grade. (I don't. obviously.)

The reason im ashamed is because I, and hundreds of thousands of people just like me, let our government DO this to another people, and the most we did about it was bitch and whine.

The Truth: Americans no longer have any control over the actions of their governmental body. It has become so massive and bureaucratic that the average citizen of the united states doesn't understand anything in the day to day operation of his own ruling body, and so he or she blindly goes about bumping into shit in a daily grind until such a time as he or she dies, not worrying about things happening "elsewhere". After all, our government has only our best intrests at heart, right?

The Truth: Voting, while fun and a good way to get a day off from work, has no bearing on actual elections. YOUR VOTE, personally, does not count. It never did. Voting only gives you a sense of control and validation, while making sure that you remain complatent. In actuality, the people best suited to the current governmental stances on issues will be the ones "elected". Always. We no longer live in a democratic society. The few misfits and black sheep who find themselves somehow intrenched within our government are only there to give the illusion of a dessenting voice, of a different opinion. Sort of like the one white dude on any professional basketball team.

The Truth: Our government, like every other government on the face of the world, is a festering cesspool of corruption. When a society is based around a few key individuals in power, even if those individuals represent the masses of normal joes who make up the country, then that society will never be anything but those that have, and those that have not. By putting a few select people in charge, you are guaranteeing that those people will eventually become filled with self importance, subconciously seperating themselves from those "beneath" them. Once this shift occurs, there is no stopping the steady decline into aristocracy. That is the ultimate truth of government. A governing body made up of a select group of individuals is one step away from a ruling body of nobles. And the fact is.. the TRUTH is... that unfortunately that step is INEVITABLE.

The Truth: A true representitive democracy suffers from the same problem that communism does: It requires that those who lead be honest. And humanity, by its very nature, cannot be completely honest. We will always put ourself before others, even if we do it subconciously. Our vices are many, our sins are incountable. Selfish Self-preservation is the worst of them.

The Truth: This is all common sense.

It doesn't make it any easier.

Additionally: This is the best interview EVER. There is no better, and in fact, I submit that there never WILL be a better interview in the future. Ever.
